NLP in the sun

Another first is that the training was conducted in two different languages. The lead language was English with a simultaneous Spanish translation. The lovely thing to see was the integration between the English and Spanish speakers on the course as well as participants from different cultures. On the courses not only do people make connections during the course hours, many an evening is spent socialising with your new friends, salsa dancing, practising NLP outside of a course context and for giving Spanish a ‘good go’ with the friendly local Spaniards.

The course was held at the 5 star Intercontinental Hotel; the training room was spacious with an excellent breakout area for exercises and presentations. The resort itself offered picturesque views, sporting facilities, relaxation areas ideal for personal and family use. This is one of the first courses where I personally got to meet some of the participant’s partners and family due to delegates bringing them along for a holiday whilst they themselves were at the training during the day, and for me it really added to the experience. The local area is filled with beautiful beaches, watersports venues, hikes, golf courses, shops and restaurants so it’s ideal as a course location and holiday resort, one of the major benefits being low cost high quality accommodation. A two bedroom apartment averages around 40 Euros per night, I’m not sure where else in Europe offers those prices with all the benefits sunny Murcia has to offer.

The core Practitioner training was led by Michael Carroll, John and Bill Phillips, the New code module was led by John Grinder and Carmen Bostic St Clair. The Trainers Training was delivered by John, Carmen and Michael. The beauty of having different trainers delivering on the same training is that each and every one of them are totally unique from one another, all have different professional and personal experiences and delivery styles. This really added to the experience because from observing and assimilating lots of different training and coaching styles, you see lots of different ways to conduct similar processes offering you more choices in developing your own style. Each also focus and specialise in different areas; John- linguistic and epistemological distinctions; Carmen – self application and streamlined coaching; – Michael coaching, business application and training skills, Bill coaching application. The trainings were incredibly intensive, for some challenging, for some life changing, but always fun, where each trainer shares and invites you to share with them personal metaphors and powerful techniques for application in a diverse set of areas.

I remember when I took my first training being amazed that I went in with the intention for improving my effectiveness in business and came out with the intention of applying NLP to myself, my relationships and working with others. Little did I know how much of an impact it would have on me. Now a few years down the line as a trainer and coach of NLP I love to see the same thing happening to others on the course, the transformative experiences and light bulb moments where application in life becomes a little clearer and how each day, layer upon layer, this all makes more sense, skill levels drastically improve and some fantastic change work, training sessions emerge.

‘NLP in the sun’ was unique, incredibly powerful, intensive experience which I’m sure none of the 200 delegates will ever forget. It was such a blast that next year we will be going back to re-create and improve on the 2012 stream of courses. If you went to NLP in the sun come back and help us out, if you’re thinking about going next year we are currently planning next year’s adventure and will be returning to Spain. If you would like to take part in ‘NLP in the Sun’ 2013 reply to this email/article and you will be guaranteed the best rate possible, it will be one of the best decisions you will ever make.
