Virgin Trains

Very rarely do I blog on government policy ,but after hearing today’s news that the government has turned down the virgin Train group bid for the west code mainline ( in favour of ‘first group’), I felt today appropriate.

Over the last 15 years Virgin has doubled the passenger numbers to 30 million per year, have the highest customer satisfaction rating of any long distance operator, reliability has increased and over 160 million last year alone was paid to the tax payer, the franchise virgin is worth over 6 Billion pounds a hugely valuable Business/symbol to the country.

With all the vast improvements, profits and esteem Virgin trains has delivered over the last 15 years, sadly the Uk government has gone elsewhere, let’s hope it’s not a costly decision like the two other bids the Uk government accepted over Virgin in the not so distant past, time will tell.
