Dr John Grinder on Ecology Filters

In this video filmed in May 2024, at the NLP Academy’s Emergent ‘New Code NLP and International Coaching Course’ an audience member asked John about implementing ecology filters. Those experienced in NLP will be aware the notion of an ecology filter is where an agreement is made with the unconscious that the new choices (from the intervention) are ecological for the client. The set-up of the filter can have different forms as is explained in the video. Now, of course, the ‘unconscious mind’ and ‘ecology filter’ are both metaphors for unconscious processes, the former being a metaphor for the entire set of unconscious processes and the latter being a metaphor for a subset of unconscious processes relevant to ecology in the specific context of application where the change is desired.
